This coffee is currently sold out but we should have more sometime in September. Our PNG is full of body with deep rich tones, medium acidity and mild fruit notes. It is a medium roast.
About the Farmers
Arokara is a cooperative of coffee farms located in the eastern highlands of PNG in the vicinity of mountains ranging up to over 9,000 feet. The coffee farms are mostly at an altitude of about 5,200 feet which provides the warm days and cool nights needed to develop the excellent cup quality found in coffee from this region. Individual plantations, actually small farms, are owned and managed by indigenous clans or tribes. There are approximately 10,000 to 12,000 people in the area who depend on coffee for their livelihood. The coffee cherries are hand picked, pulped on the same day and the resulting parchment is placed in cement fermentation tanks for 36 hours. Immediately after removal, the beans are washed in fresh mountain water from the Aru River and sun dried for 7 to 12 days.
