Honduras may be one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere, but their coffees are fantastic and we are happy to pay high prices for them. Our new Honduras Marcala is a well balanced coffee with a medium body that lingers on your tongue. We roasted it to around second crack, making it a medium roast.
In Honduras, talking about coffee is understanding one of the main characteristics of their national culture and the proud story of more than 100,000 producing families. Different than what happens in the rest of Central America, national production
is mainly made up of small and medium producers (99%) which is 82% of the country 's production, that is, it is one of the harvests with the greater capacity to redistribute wealth.
Marcala is a municipality in Honduras' southwestern side, in La Paz. It is known particularly for its exceptional coffee quality, which has exceeded its reputation.
Being this a region with Lenca indigenous background, made the arrival of German immigrants during this last century an introduction to a very peculiar joining of cultures, which put together with the amazing agro-ecological qualities of the region resulted in particular characteristics and the immeasurable quality of our coffee, known to be one of the best in Honduras.
